Crewe & Harpur by Marston's Inns

Ate at the pub with some friends after walking in the area. We had booked a table online which was an easy process. We were greeted at the entrance and had a short wait for our table and a friendly and helpful member of staff came over to take our orders for drinks and food. Food arrived in about 20 minutes and my burger was very tasty and filling. The building and atmosphere is great and it was lovely to be able to catch up with friends during the meal. We made use of the 40% offer off mains that was running and it was excellent value.

Great experience at Crewe & Harpur - friendly and welcoming reception on arrival to a beautifully located Inn on the banks of the River Trent and right next to the famous Swarkestone Bridge. The room was clean, tidy and well appointed with a very comfy bed. The bathroom, likewise, was very clean and spacious and the shower was hot and powerful although the shower controls are tricky to use if you have soapy hands. After checking in, I went to the bar/restaurant for a meal and, again, the service was great as was the food itself. I tried both the ales on tap and enjoyed them! My sleep was excellent and, despite having the window open, was not disturbed by any traffic which, at night, is very light anyway. Breakfast was great - a good choice and very well prepared/presented by more friendly staff. All in all, a great stay made all the better by the people who work there.

What a team you have, head office please read this, the team were absolutely brilliant, we were well looked after and had a very spacious family room for the three of us. Attentive without being too much. We had a lovely dinner when we arrived and the place was buzzing. Christmas breakfast - smoked salmon and Prosecco to start, wow, delicious. Followed up by a fab classic breakfast and a continental. You really couldn’t ask any more of the staff here and the food really did deliver especially the chocolate brownie and dome! Highly recommend this just for the theatre of pouring over hot salted caramel sauce and watching the dome melt. Being my third stay I really won’t be going anywhere else when I travel to Derby. Highly recommend.

First off the location. Absolutely beautiful location next to the fabulous Swarkestone bridge giving up some wonderful sunsets and sunrise pictures plus the bridge itself. Quick and easy check in thanks to the lovely lady on reception. Room cold on arrival, I mean COLD! Heating should be on ready for the guests to arrive. It's a bit dated and the decor needs a refresh but no complaints about the shower or the bed. Shower powerful if a touch erratic with the temperature. Bed was so comfortable. We ate in the bar, good menus including the Christmas specials. All good and washed down with a couple of Pedigree Lovely cooked to order breakfast, omelette and black pudding with lovely coffee. Again served by great staff. Will definitely be using it again. Thank You

Didn't stay hence no stars for rooms . Visited for dinner , after visiting web site and seeing the variety choices to eat , it was an easy choice to go . The staff working there were all very polite and engaging. The food was lovely , cooked well, presented lovely and tasted great . I had a sirloin steak and it was cooked to perfection When placing my order , I asked for mash n veg instead of chips and normal garnish ...this was met with zero fuss . My dad , his 80th birthday , had the steak and merlot pie which he demolished. We both had pudding Thank you to all the staff for a lovely evening.

Everything was fine and comfortable. Bed was very comfortable room was nice. Good tea and coffee room facilities. Breakfast was good and well prepared. Staff were helpful and friendly. Parking was ample. I will not hesitate to recommend this place. Nice beautiful countryside.

From booking to leaving exceptional service throughout. The booking process was smooth and I got a great deal going directly to Marstons. The hotel room was clean, spacious, warm and I didn’t need anything everything was provided. I had the best night sleep in a comfy bed. There was no noise from the restaurant or the car park. The meal and breakfast were beautiful, hot and fresh with so much choice. Every member of staff was so friendly and inviting. We only stayed one night sadly I wish we had done more but the stay we had was one of the best. I will most definitely be back again. Thank you to all the amazing staff you were great.
